Ways to Enhance Your Eye Exam
LipiScan is the first dedicated high-definition gland imager that allows eye care professionals to assess meibomian gland structure during routine workups in a practice setting.
LipiScan™ | USED TO DIAGNOSIS MEIBOMIAN GLAND DYSFUNCTION (MGD)
Q. What is Meibomian Gland Disease (MGD)?
A. Your Meibomian glands are located in your eyelids, where they secrete an oily fluid that enhances your tear film and slows the evaporation of your tears. This allows the tears to keep your cornea well lubricated for smooth and clear vision.
When the meibomian glands are either blocked or don’t function optimally, the lipid (fatty) layer of your tear film isn’t rich enough to maintain lasting moisture on your eyes. In addition, to the rapid evaporation of tears, there is also greater friction between the cornea and eyelids. This is what’s behind the resulting symptoms of eye irritation.
EIDON | USED FOR RETINAL SCREENING
A Retinal Screening with the EIDON system is a wellness test: it documents, through the image of your retina, the status of your health for future reference. EIDON provides unsurpassed image quality, 60° field in a single exposure, a unique, live, confocal view of the retina, three different imaging modalities and dilation-free operation, all integrated in a versatile system that provides new opportunities in retinal diagnostics.
Q. Who should have the EIDON test?
A. Anyone with a history or a family history of:
• Macular Degeneration
• High blood pressure or high cholesterol
COMPASS | USED FOR PERIPHERAL VISION ASSESSMENT
COMPASS is the first Fundus Automated perimeter capable of performing standard 24-2 visual field testing, delivering TrueColor confocal images at the same time. COMPASS is a scanning ophthalmoscope combined with an automatic perimeter that provides confocal images of the retina, as well as measurements of retinal threshold sensitivity, under non-mydriatic conditions.
OCT | DEEP LEVEL SCAN OF THE RETINA
OCT is an non-invasive imaging test that is useful in diagnosing and monitoring many eye conditions, including: macular hole, macular pucker, macular edema, macular degeneration, glaucoma, central serous space retinal retinopathy, diabetic retinopathy, vitreous traction, and optic nerve disorders.
BlephEx® is an eyelid cleaning procedure. The cleaning procedure should be repeated every 4 to 6 months.
BlephEx® | USED FOR CLEANING EYELIDS TO MAINTAIN EYELID HYGIENE
BlephEx® is a painless in-office procedure performed by your eyecare professional or trained technician. A revolutionary new patented BlephEx® handpiece is used to very precisely spin a soft medical grade micro-sponge along the edge of your eyelids and lashes. This procedure effectively removes years of accumulated bacterial biofilm, much like a dental cleaning removes accumulated plaque, also a biofilm. Once the biofilm is removed, your eyelids are cleaner and healthier. A healthy eyelid is critical for normal tear production.
